JOHNSON CITY — Politically conservative author and syndicated columnist Cal Thomas will be one of the key speakers Westminster Presbyterian Church’s 46th Annual Presbyterian Evangelistic Fellowship (PEF) Conference in March.
The conference, which is scheduled for March 6-9, is designed to strengthen and encourage believers in sharing their faith in Jesus Christ with others.
The theme for this conference is “To Comprehend Christ,” based on Ephesians 3:17-19: “so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.”
Thomas’ columns appear in more than 550 newspapers, including USA Today. He also is broadcast on 300 radio stations and FOX News.
Other key speakers are:
• Dr. Joseph A. Pipa, president and professor of theology at Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Greenville, S.C., and author of “Did God Create in 6 Days?”
• Dr. Mike Beates, teaching elder and dean of students at The Geneva School in Winter Park, Fla., and author of more than 50 articles/editorials and the book, “Disability and the Gospel: How God Uses Our Brokenness to Display His Grace.”
• Steve Ham, senior director of outreach at Answers in Genesis and author of “In God We Trust: Why Biblical Authority Matters for Every Believer.”
“We’re very excited to bring this distinguished group of speakers to the Tri-Cities area,” said Joe Thompson, PEF conference director. “We invite everyone in our community to join us in coming together to focus and gain knowledge as we study and worship together in ‘Comprehending Christ.’ As we focus on this comprehension, we become more convicted and motivated to share our faith, so that many others around us may experience the truth, love and forgiveness of God and come to know that eternal life is found in none other but Jesus Christ.”
Conference sessions will include messages from the speakers; a table talk Q&A forum with Thomas and Dr. Rick J. Light, PEF executive director, on Friday and Saturday afternoons; evening worship services; ladies’ luncheon; and Sunday morning worship, led by Dr. James E. Richter, Westminster senior pastor, and the Rev. Robert Thompson of PEF at Eastern Heights Presbyterian Church of Bristol, Tenn.
