Precept Ministries’ training staff will be in Kingsport next month to lead a new FastTrack Training Workshop. Powerful Women of God, Women’s Ministry of Full Gospel Mission Church, 740 E. Sevier Ave. will meet at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 8. Evangelist Camelia Myrick will speak. The women’s ministry will celebrate its third anniversary during the 3:30 p.m. service on Sunday, Feb. 9. Please use the side entrance to enter the fellowship hall.

Community event

Concordia Lutheran Church, 725 Truxton Drive, Kingsport will present a program by a nurse who has worked in a Muslim country for many year. The program will be held from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Feb. 15. She will share basic information on Islam as well as how to relate to our Muslim neighbors with the love of Christ. The Appalachian Dharma & Meditation Center (ADMC), 108 W. 10th Ave., Johnson City, is offering free classes on mindful meditation and introduction to Buddhism beginning with a session from 1 to 3 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 8. This is an opportunity for anyone who has ever been interested in discovering more about meditation and Buddhism to learn about the practice. The mindful meditation class will focus on various ways to meditate. It will be repeated on April 12. The introduction to Buddhism class will cover Buddha’s life, his basic philosophy and his prescription for overcoming suffering in our lives. It will be offered March 9 and May 10. Youth event

Purity Rally 2014, with the theme “I Am Promised,” will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 8 at Lamplight Theatre, Broad Street, downtown Kingsport. Christian speaker and vocal artist, Billy Wayne, will challenges students through scripture, music and real-life experiences as he focuses on critical sexual issues facing students today. Admission is free, but a love offering will be received. Seating is limited, so advance registration is suggested but not required. Purity rings can be pre-ordered at a discounted rate for those wishing to participate in the ring ceremony. Purity Rally T-shirts and hoodies can also be pre-ordered at a discounted rate.
