Cooks and Books set for Saturday in St. Paul

ST. PAUL, Va. — If you enjoy the area’s food and wines as well as its regional authors, then you will want to make room on your calendar for the second annual Cooks and Books in St. Paul, Va.

The Friends of J. Fred Matthews Memorial Library and St. Paul Tomorrow will hold the event from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Farmers Market Pavilion on Market Square in downtown St. Paul.

This fund-raiser will help support library programs and local revitalization projects.

Area eateries and wineries will have samples to taste while visiting with well-known regional authors who will have books for sale. The silent auction will offer crafts, books, gift certificates and other goodies for bidding.

The author lineup includes Joe Tennis, Kathy Shearer, Gary Varner, Rebecca Elswick and Katie Meade.

Mountain Rose Vineyard and Coltsfoot Winery will offer a variety of wines.

Food samples will be offered by the Lyttle Farm of Copper Ridge, Sue Blevins Catering, The Riverside Diner, El Palenque Mexican Restaurant, and Stephen Gilbert, executive chef at The Virginia Ballroom.

Advance tickets are $20, and $25 day of the event. Tickets may be purchased at Bailey’s Hardware or C.R. Pate & Co, in St. Paul, or you can order “will call” tickets online at www.st.paulfriendsofthelibrary.wordpress.com or on Facebook-Friends of J. Fred Matthews Memorial Library-St. Paul, VA.
