Photography Workshop will jump start your picture-taking process

"Basic Photography & Beyond: Your Next Step," a workshop with John E. May will be offered from 1 to 4:30 p.m., July 27 at Holiday Inn Express, 1217 Stewball Circle, Kingsport.This will be an intensive workshop meant to jump-start your photography process, designed to motivate photographers and get down to the really important features of their cameras.The workshop will be concentrate on the digital SLR camera with all of its controls and work in the RAW format.
May, an enthusiastic teacher, will provide in-depth instruction from image capture through fine art image output. Students will learn the basics of digital camera controls and workflow from capture to print output while cultivating and executing their creative ideas.
Through discussion and evaluation of work in progress, students develop awareness of their unique visual voice and of the artistic and technical decisions that lead to successful image making.May is an assistant professor at Pellissippi State Community College's Department of Media and Technology. He studied photography at Lincoln Memorial University, University of South Carolina and East Tennessee State University, where he earned a master of fine arts degree in 2010. He has held teaching posts at Lincoln Memorial University, Walters State Community College, East Tennessee State University and Arrowmont School of Art.The cost of the workshop is $150.
