Kingsport Theatre Guild’s Summer Actor Training Program 2013 will be held June 14-30 at the Kingsport Renaissance Center. Participants can choose from a variety of classes, and the program will culminate with the students presenting the world premiere production of the comedy, “The Language of the Birds.” Teen S.A.T.P. is for ages 12-18; Junior S.A.T.P. is open to participants ages 7-12; and Mini S.A.T.P. is for children ages 3-7. Tuition is $175 per student for the Teen and Junior programs, and $80 for the Mini program. Johnson City Community Theatre will present three week-long Kidzeye Theatre workshops this summer for children ages 7-13. During the workshops, to be held June 16-20, July 8-12 and July 29-Aug. 2, students will learn stage presence, blocking, character development and more. Each week of the workshop will feature a different play so that children who want to attend all three sessions will have a different experience each time. Leading the workshops will be director/playwright Chris Bernstein and JCCT’s theatre manager, Thomas Townsend. Tuition is $150 for each week-long session, with discounts available for siblings. Camp NPAC Kids
Niswonger Performing Arts Center in Greeneville will hold Camp NPAC Kids, featuring summer theatrical day camps for students in grades K-9, in July. Rising kindergarten through second graders will attend July 8-12; third through sixth graders will attend July 15-19; and campers in seventh through ninth grade will attend July 22-26. Camp hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. Students should bring a snack, lunch and beverage each day. Tuition is $250 per student; cost for additional siblings in the same session is $225.
