The city of Kingsport Office of Cultural Arts will hold its 34th annual arts and crafts festival, The Christmas Connection, Nov. 8-10, at the Kingsport Civic Auditorium.
The Christmas Connection arts and crafts show began 34 years ago and has become a cherished tradition in Kingsport and the Tri-Cities that opens up the holiday season.
As sponsors of this event, the city of Kingsport Office of Cultural Arts seeks to improve the overall quality of The Christmas Connection and pursue the department’s mission to promote the arts.
Applications are now being accepted for those wishing to exhibit in this three-day event, which is by invitation only. A selection committee will review all applications, and invitations will be sent to those artists and craft persons whom, the committee members believe, will make the best-balanced festival possible.
Past participants are not guaranteed space in the Christmas Connection. The organizers believe the success of The Christmas Connection depends upon a combination of high quality and variety. The selection committee will closely view these factors, plus space limitations, in making their selections. By selecting only the highest quality crafters and the best variety, the hope is to increase the number of shoppers for this year’s show.
Those interested in being an exhibitor at this event may complete the 2013 application, available at www.Arts.KingsportTN.gov and submit it before May 31.
Applications should be returned to: Christmas Connection, City of Kingsport, Office of Cultural Arts, 1200 E. Center St., Kingsport, Tenn. 37660. Applications may be e-mailed to: WilliamStephanos@KingsportTN.gov
This year the application deadlines have been changed to allow for more planning and creating time. The first deadline for receiving applications is May 31. Applications received after that date will be considered only as space is available and may be put on a waiting list for available space.
