For the past six years The Drifting Theatre has brought professional theatre artists from throughout the country to the Tri-Cities to teach and mentor young actors.
Throughout the Summer Actor Training Program 2013, students will work in-depth on honing their acting and performance skills. This challenging (and fun) program provides an environment where both the seasoned actor and the stage-shy newcomer can blossom.
During the programs students will have the choice to participate in a variety of classes, including acting (various levels and styles), stage combat, theatre movement, improvisation, auditioning, flag twirling, dance choreography, theatre games, monologue coaching and Shakespeare.The program will be divided into sessions for teens 12 to 18, children 7 to 12, and children 3 to 7.The training program will culminate with the students presenting the world premiere production of the comedy, “The Language of the Birds.”
Auditions and opening meeting for the teens and children 7 to 12 will be held at 6 p.m., Friday, June 14.
Classes and rehearsals for teens will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, June 17-28.
Classes and rehearsals for children 7 to 12 will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday, June 17-28.
A mini Summer Actor Training program for children age 3 to 7 will be held from 2 to 4 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays, June 18-30.
The final dress rehearsal will be at 6 p.m., June 28, with performances at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., June 29 and 30.
