The town of Jonesborough is seeking entries for its Open Juried Art Show of 2013, in which $2,000 in cash will be awarded. The exhibition was developed to provide artists an opportunity to compete and showcase their artwork on a national level.
Approximately 60 to 75 traditional and non-traditional works will comprise the exhibition at the McKinney Center at Booker T. Washington School in Jonesborough.
The exhibition will run May 24 through June 14. The juror lecture will take place at the International Storytelling Center at 6 p.m., Friday, May 24, and a reception will immediately follow at the McKinney Center.
This year’s juror is Stephen Wicks, who has guided the Knoxville Museum of Art’s curatorial department for 18 years. During that time, he managed the museum’s thriving exhibitions program and guided the development of its collections of East Tennessee-related art and international contemporary art.
Entries for the exhibition must be received by April 3, 2013. Both digital and original works of art are being accepted. Download the prospectus and application at www.jonesboroughtn.org.
