American Heart Association research reception shows how funding utilized

The American Heart Association will hold a Research Reception from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 5, at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital.

The purpose of the reception, which is sponsored by HealthSouth Rehabiliation Hospital, is to educate the community on where and how the AHA utilizes funding.

Dr. Shobha R. Hiremagalur, MD, FACP, FACC, FSCAI, a cardiologist with Cardiology Consultants of Johnson City, will speak.

Dr. Hiremagalur is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiology and interventional cardiology. She is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology.

She performed her residency in internal medicine and received a fellowship in cardiology at the Quillen College of Medicine at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City.

She has publications in medical journals and is actively involved in giving lectures to physicians and the community. She has an additional residency in obstetrics and gynecology that helps her better evaluate women with cardiovascular disease.

Founded in 1924, the American Heart Association is the nation’s oldest and largest voluntary health organization dedicated to building healthier lives, free of heart disease and stroke.
