CNI promotes a comprehensive approach to transforming distressed areas into viable and sustainable mixed-income neighborhoods. The goal is to link housing improvements for the selected CNI neighborhood with necessary services such as education, health, self-sufficiency, safety, transportation and employment opportunities.
The selected neighborhood is physically bounded by Center Street, railroads and Wilcox Drive on the west and south, Kingsport Greenbelt on the north and Center Street, Wateree Street, Piedmont Drive and Dorothy Street on the east.
Two of the Feb. 14 meetings will be held in the Douglass Room of the V.O. Dobbins Sr. Complex, 301 Louis St.
The first meeting, from 9 to 10:15 a.m., will provide an overview of the CNI goals, the planning process and provide information on the selected neighborhood.
The second one, from 1:15 to 4:45 p.m., will cover more specific areas of planning related to neighborhood, people and housing.
The third meeting, which will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m., in room S205 at First Baptist Church, 200 W. Church Circle, will provide the community residents and businesses an overview of the goals and planning process and also incorporate activities for attendees to participate in preliminary planning for the neighborhood.
