Valentine's Day fund-raiser aids fight against polio

staff report • Feb 8, 2013 at 8:06 AM

The Rotary Clubs of Kingsport and Johnson City will hold their annual Valentine’s Day fund-raiser for Rotary’s PolioPlus Fund.

The PolioPlus Fund, which began in 1985, is dedicated to eradicating polio in the world. Today, thanks in part to Rotary’s efforts, polio remains endemic in only three countries. However, that still places 10 million children younger than 5 still at risk of contracting the crippling and potentially fatal infectious disease.

The fund-raiser, which begins at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 14, at the Carnegie Hotel in Johnson City, will feature a dinner, dance and auction.

Tickets are $45 per person.

To make reservations, call Judith Fisher at 288-6580 or 817-8344, or e-mail fisherjp@charter.net
