Kramer, whose debut single “Why Ya Wanna” hit No. 3 on the U.S. country charts in 2012, is the latest in a long string of top country acts booked for Rogersville’s annual free July 4 concert in the park.
Although the holiday falls on a Thursday this year, Rogersville’s all-day celebration will take place on Saturday, July 6, at Rogersville City Park
Dr. Blaine Jones, who chairs the Fourth of July Celebration Committee, said the schedule change was necessary to ensure that the committee was able to once again bring a top name to Rogersville.
“It is getting harder and harder to negotiate with the artists for weekday and holiday events,” Jones said. “The committee looked at this and also other economic factors in making the decision to move the celebration. Most of us are traditionalists and we would love to keep it on the 4th, but feasibly it is getting harder and harder to do so.
“By moving the event to a Saturday, it also allows people easier travel to visit our town and our event, and this will probably mean larger crowds. It also allows us to have a downtown Rogersville event on Friday night which will help out even more on our local economy.”
Kramer has already had one big hit song on the Country Billboard charts with “Why Ya Wanna” and is currently moving up the charts with her latest single “Whiskey.”
Prior to changing her focus to music, Kramer had recurring roles on TV shows, including “Friday Night Lights” in 2007, “Grey’s Anatomy” in 2008, “90210” in 2008-09, “Entourage” in 2009, and starred in 44 episodes of “One Tree Hill” in 2009-12.
“I love acting, but my heart and soul is in singing,” Kramer said. “I’ve been terrified to pursue this dream because it’s so personal to me. If someone tells me they don’t like my voice, it’s a lot harder of a hit to take. This is what I’ve always wanted to do. I’ve wanted to do music my entire life.”
The Newsboys are a Grammy- and Dove Award-nominated band with multiple number one singles and albums.
