"I’ve literally spent my entire adult life working in this credit union and I really do care about every member. Why would I or anyone else spend their entire life doing something they do not enjoy? I can’t imagine it! I love First Kingsport Credit Union and cherish the blessings and trust I’ve been given!" Beverly said.
First chartered in 1932, First Kingsport CU has a current field of membership that includes the City of Kingsport employees and any entity associated with the City, postal and federal employees, teachers, and, of course, all veterans. For a complete list of membership opportunities, visit us at http://www.firstkptcu.com/. We accept small employee groups and would be honored to serve all small business employees with our credit union benefits and services.
People who are acquainted with Beverly Boling enjoy her natural gift of gab. Bev and her staff are always out in the community talking to people about First Kingsport Credit Union.
"Some of our members even stop by in the mornings just to say hello and have coffee," she laughs, "and some just come by with their dogs for a visit with the tellers and a doggie treat! It’s hard to explain how we do things here without seeing us in action, but it is a real family connection. Once you become a member, you wonder why you haven’t banked here all your life. Like families, we celebrate the special moments with our members and are there to help you through times of need.
"Big financial institutions have lost their 'personal' touch. We personally answer our phones and are happy and excited to assist our members’ needs. I guess we’re lucky to be the little guy because everyone is important here. Our goal is to be your financial confidant and trusted friend," she said.
First Kingsport Credit Union offers the bells and whistles of online banking, bill pay, mobile banking, ATMs, VISA cards, and rates on loans and CDs that fiercely compete with the big guys. The focus is on the simple details of taking care of members who own this financial co-operative. Some save and some borrow, and everyone benefits from the profit.
"I like to think of it as working in a garden; we try to plant seeds to educate our members for their financial future. We want to be there to cultivate improvement in credit scores, savings plans and major purchases, such as a vehicle or home. We want our members to be able to harvest the most out of their futures. Family is everything."
Beverly often makes conversation about her son, Steve, who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as her dad, who was a C-130 flight engineer in the Air Force.
"Everyone has a connection to a family member who has served their country. Being the mother, daughter, aunt, niece, cousin and friend to many who are currently serving in the military or who have served our great country is a genuine honor. Once you’ve experienced a child going to a war zone, you humbly know of the sacrifice that our soldiers and their families make every day for the United States of America," she said.
In honor of veterans, both retired and active, First Kingsport Credit Union opened Monday, Nov. 12, and served free coffee and doughnuts from 7:30 a.m. until noon. "We just want to pay it forward to our veterans and current military. It is our heartfelt way to let them know how appreciative we are of their service to keep us safe and free," Beverly said. City of Kingsport economic development planner and veteran Jeanette Scalf will be presented her "Stars of Freedom" program, giving back individual stars from retired flags to the men and women who have served us all.
