The SWVTC banquet will begin at 5 p.m. with a reception and Tech Expo followed by music, dinner, keynote speakers focusing on “The Year of the Entrepreneur,” and culminating with the presentation of the SWVTC High Tech Awards for 2012.
High Tech Awards will be presented in six categories including high tech innovation in economic development, small business and entrepreneur, government, and innovation and green technology.
Also scheduled at this year’s banquet are Virginia Deputy Secretary of Technology Karen Jackson and many local legislators.
SWVTC Executive Director Esther W. Bolling announced finalists for the High Tech Awards. Southwest Virginia businesses and institutions selected as finalists for outstanding use of technologies and growth in those fields include Heartwood, Appalachian Prosperity Project, NASA Develop, Coeburn Creative, Crutchfield Corp., CavitronX, and Tannersville Connection.
Others include Appalachian Info Tech Extension Service, Evatran, Total Edge Technology, City of Bristol, Carbonites Corp., Nanoquatics, T&L, New River Valley Jail, Russell County Public Schools, LaZaModz LLC, Ed Rogers, and Virtual Marketing Assistant Partnership.
