From the region's beautiful fall foliage and scenic wonders to fun-filled festivals, family outings and church activities, we welcome pictures of everyday life in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia. So get those cameras - or smartphones - out and take your best shots. Then, share them with us.
And, for those of you who enjoy a BLAST FROM THE PAST, Sunday Stories' Scrapbook Flashback is sure to bring a smile to your face. Each month, Sunday Stories turns back the clock for a Scrapbook Flashback featuring photos that are at least 25 years old or older. Each month has a theme - so watch for it and then head to your own scrapbooks to find photos that fit the bill.
The Scrapbook Flashback theme for October is: Tricks and Treats.
Remember your favorite Halloween costume from your childhood? Maybe it was a homemade creation that your mom put together one year, or the time that you got to dress up as your favorite superhero. Well, whatever it was, chances are there's a picture of you in it with your jack-o-lantern candy tote and perhaps even all the loot from hours spent trick-or-treating through the neighborhood. Or maybe, back in the day, you had a smashing Halloween party with spooktacular costumes and decorations.
Whatever "Tricks and Treats" you captured in pictures from Halloween pasts, we want to see them. Just remember, the pictures in the Flashback have to be at least 25 years old - so anything from 1987 and earlier is fair game.
Be sure to include your full name and a description of the photo, including when and where it was taken and who's in it, along with a way that we can contact you - just in case we have any questions.
The deadline to submit photos for the October Scrapbook Flashback is 5 p.m., Friday, Oct. 19.
Here's how to submit a picture(s):
Scan and email it to: email@example.com.
Just be sure that it's at least one megabyte and 200 dpi. Also, send it as an attachment to an email and not as a link to any outside site.
Mail or deliver it to: Kingsport Times-News, Attn: Carmen Musick, 701 Lynn Garden Drive, Kingsport, TN 37662.
We recommend that you have a copy made and send it. However, if you send the original and want it back, please be sure to include a self-addressed stamped envelope or make plans to come back and pick it up after it publishes.
For more information, contact Sunday Stories' editor Carmen Musick at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 423-723-1435.
