Tri-Cities Walk to Defeat ALS

The Tri-Cities Walk to Defeat ALS will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at Warrior's Path State Park at Kingsport. Registration begins at 10 AM, and the Walk will be held at 11 AM. The Walk to Defeat ALS is the ALS Association's signature fund-raising event in the fight against Lou Gehrig's Disease. Every 90 minutes one American dies of ALS, while another is stricken. Often referred to as Lou Gehrig's disease, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease. The Walk to Defeat ALS is a growing event with more than 3,500 walkers across the State in 2011. Since the ALS Walks began in 2000, more than $137 million has been raised nationwide to fight Lou Gehrig's disease.
