The Spine Health Foundation (SHF), a local non-profit organization dedicated to helping individuals with chronic back pain, has been selected as a Top 5 Regional Finalist in the Best New Charity category for the Fourth Annual CLASSY Awards.

According to its website, the CLASSY Awards is the largest philanthropic awards ceremony in the country, celebrating the greatest charitable achievements by nonprofit organizations, socially conscious businesses and individuals worldwide.

CLASSY Awards recognize non-profit organizations that are operating as efficiently as lean corporations, and for-profit enterprises that have built social responsibility into the essence of their mission and products. CLASSY Awards is hosted by StayClassy, a San Diego-based startup that develops an online fund-raising product used by thousands of non-profit organizations around the world. The company was founded in 2006 by a couple of friends who were looking to raise funds for charity.

The Spine Health Foundation provides assistance to eligible individuals who are either uninsured or under-insured and need specialized medical care. Individuals must apply for assistance to determine eligibility. Assistance may include help covering medication costs, physician expenses, and/or hospital expenses.

From now until July 26, the public has an opportunity to cast their vote to help the SHF reach the next level. To cast a vote, visit http://www.stayclassy.org/classy-awards/vote. Select the South Region, then scroll to Best New Charity. Select the Spine Health Foundation, then scroll down the page to Submit Final Ballot. You will then be directed to a page to sign into Facebook. If you do not have a Facebook page, you can sign up for a StayClassy account. Voters will need either a Facebook page or a StayClassy account in order to vote.

If chosen, the SHF will receive national promotion and marketing by major media leaders, which will help it further its mission of helping those in need.
