KINGSPORT – New York Times bestselling author Adriana Trigiani has never forgotten her Appalachian roots. Though some of her stories take place in other cities and states, Trigiani said she always finds a way to incorporate parts of her Southwest Virginia home into everything she writes.

Although leaders of the effort originally said taxpayers wouldn't be asked to do more than buy the land for the new facility — which they did a few months ago — some would-be big donors have since said they want local governments to pledge significant funding toward building the estimated $3.5 million project.

The program, dubbed Tastes of the Clinch, was unveiled by the Clinch River Valley Initiative on Wednesday. The program highlights locally owned restaurants along the river in four counties in Southwest Virginia.
In celebration of the centennial, volunteers handed out free ETSU merchandise and T-shirts as well as “ETSU PRIDE” yard signs to spread the spirit, and even Bucky and Festus made a special joint appearance.
