The new location, 2608 E. Center St., hosts an industrial chic vibe in an inviting atmosphere. Unique features provide a high level of comfort, including shampoo bowls equipped with pillows for your head. “We really wanted to create an environment that our clients deserve,” said Sheila Ferguson, salon owner. “We’ve had such an amazing response and are thrilled our long-time, as well as new clients, love the feel of the salon.”
Quality is the foundation of the Hair Benders reputation. Hair Benders brings in top industry leaders to educate team members privately on the latest industry trends. Shelia and her team have received certification in New York City for design and color, and the team goes to the largest training in the industry at the Las Vegas symposium.
“We promise individual attention and exceptional value for all our customers,” Hollie Taylor agreed. “Our staff is dedicated to perfecting their skills and we are passionate about what we do.”
Hair Benders founder and Redken artist, Sheila is proud of her staff. “Hair Benders Salon is a team of ambitious stylists offering superior services customized to fit your lifestyle, face shape and personal style,” she said.
Kingsport has been a true blessing and support to Shelia and her salon throughout the decades. She says she feels blessed to have worked and lived in such a great community for more than 40 years.
The salon weighs heavy with senior staff members from 8 to more than 20 years who have taken on mentoring roles that allow so many stylists to make great careers out of doing what they love.
Senior staff include Sabrina Hartgrove, Redken Design certified and AA; Danielle Neeley, Pureology certified 4A; Wendy Gibson, Pureology certified 4A; Roxanne Shutts, Bethany Hamilton, Stacy Wieberg, past Redken Artist; Judy Carter, Kristin Wilmoth, Lelia Aleya, Cate Crawford, Jamie Coates, Redken color certified; Melissa Osborne and Allison Wolff have made it a priority to pass on their knowledge and skill.
“This is key to help grow the careers of up and coming stylists,” Sheila said.
Sheila added she is proud of their junior staff members who work hard and put in extra time to stay in the know and build their portfolio. They are Alisha Carter, Ashley Williams, Madison Tipton, Faith Snodgrass, Delena Francis, Gracie Pearson, Courtney Casey, Nicole Dalton, Amber Lovin and Taylor Goebel.
The Hair Benders team finds it important to give back to the community, Hollie said. “We take pride in giving back our time, talents and financial support for a variety of charitable groups with volunteer efforts and charitable giving. The whole team enjoys giving back.”
Shelia opened Hair Benders Salon more than 35 years ago and moved from Memorial Boulevard to their first location on Center Street when daughter, Hollie, joined to help manage the business. Together they expanded to the new location.
