Preston Place, The Village at Allandale treat residents like family

Preston Place and The Village at Allandale are the only locally-owned, physician-managed assisted living facilities in the Kingsport area. Almost 20 years ago, Preston Place was built when a local resident was looking for premium assisted living for his father’s care. In 2007, Preston Place II opened its doors to provide a free-standing memory care facility for residents with Alzheimer’s and other dementias. In the meantime, Kingsport Senior House was built in west Kingsport, just over the hill from Allandale Mansion. In 2007, while Preston Place II was getting acquainted with their new residents, Kingsport Senior House was purchased and two new additions were added to that property to create The Village at Allandale. In 2015, all three properties combined under the same local ownership.
We’re blessed to live in a small town where residents’ families golf with our owners, grew up with family members of our management, and have been treated by our physicians for years.
One of the best perks about our facilities is our residents have a constant voice in what we do! Through our quarterly Resident Council meetings, monthly Resident Committee meetings and daily feedback, we strive to make our home-away-from-home more than comfortable.
Another unique characteristic of our facilities, besides the two locations making it convenient for your family’s needs, is the fact that we don’t charge for levels of care. At most assisted living facilities, residents are charged a base rate and then any assistance with bathing, medication management, blood sugar testing, laundry and more are all additional charges. It’s important our residents know that we do NOT charge for these “levels of care” as we believe it is called “assisted living” for a reason. We are proud to offer all-inclusive rates for our residents with no surprises month to month, insuring they get the care they need. We’re also happy to direct you to information on financial assistance opportunities available.
Another major difference between The Village at Allandale and Preston Place and other assisted living facilities is that we have separate facilities for our residents who need secured memory care. We recognize the need for a specific building layout with lighting and other specialized details. Our memory care staff is trained to assist residents who need an extra hand and a patient heart.
For those who have a loved one with dementia, we offer support groups to caregivers twice a month, free of charge, through The Alzheimer’s Regional Resource Center, Inc. Anyone in our region who needs a word of advice, a research-based book or training DVD, or simply a listening ear for the challenges that come along with caring for friend or loved one with dementia will be welcomed with open arms, free of charge, to the area’s only Alzheimer’s Regional Resource Center. It was developed from a need in our community, and we are honored to support those in need through this 501(c)(3) nonprofit any time, day or night. With our 24/7 helpline, hope is just a phone call away. Call 423-378-HELP (4357) any time a caregiver needs advice. Our Alzheimer’s Caregiver Conference will be held this Tuesday at St. Dominic’s Parish Life Center with international dementia educator and trainer Teepa Snow from North Carolina! CEUs are available for professional caregivers and a reduced rate is offered for private caregivers.
Drop by any of our locations to learn more about what we have to offer! Visitors to our facilities quickly recognize the warm, friendly environment where residents are treated like family. In fact, we have over 30 employees who have been with us for 4-14 years! Call either location to get the answers to your questions so that you can make informed decisions.
