JOHNSON CITY — East Tennessee State will take on James Madison in the Women’s NIT, the postseason basketball tournament announced Monday night.

The Bucs will travel to Harrisonburg, Va., on Thursday. The 64-team field was announced after the NCAA bracket was released.

ETSU will take a 20-12 record into the matchup. Three of the Bucs’ losses were to Mercer (30-2), which is playing in the NCAA tournament. The Bears beat ETSU 68-53 in the Southern Conference tournament championship game.

The Bucs earned the WNIT bid by finishing second in the Southern Conference’s regular season.

James Madison (21-10) tied with Drexel for the Colonial Athletic Association regular-season title. Former Wise Central star Logan Reynolds plays for the Dukes.

ETSU’s last WNIT berth was 2015 when North Carolina State came to Brooks Gym and won 73-58.

Chattanooga, the Bucs’ SoCon rival, also made the field with an at-large bid. The Mocs earned a matchup at Alabama-Birmingham, also on Thursday.

Purdue and West Virginia lead the 64-team field.
