The Buffs defeated Washington Adventist 73-67 on Saturday before coming out on the short end of a 69-66 decision to Northwestern Ohio on Sunday afternoon.
Daxton Bostian scored 18 points against Washington Adventist and Aaron Levarity went for his fifth straight double-double, 17 points and 15 rebounds, in Milligan’s win over the Shock. Bostian sank 5 of 8 3-point attempts.
Former Sullivan East star David Casaday chipped in with 11 points, and Will Buckner, who starred at Christ School, contributed 10.
Former Elizabethton standout Bo Pless and Bostian both had decent looks at go-ahead 3-point attempts in the last 10 seconds of the loss to Northwestern Ohio.
A Casaday 3-pointer had given Milligan a 58-50 lead, but the Racers outscored the Buffs 19-8 to finish the game, including scoring the final six points.
Levarity made it six straight double-doubles with 16 points and 12 boards. Pless finished with 10.
Impressive on the women’s side of the event was Southeastern of Lakeland, Fla. The Fire (9-0) beat West Virginia Tech 105-46 on Saturday and topped No. 13 Indiana East 101-72 on Sunday.
The event hosted 12 men’s and eight women’s basketball teams from around the country and early estimates show an economic impact for the region of half a million dollars.
