PRINCETON, W. Va. — The Kingsport Mets dropped a heartbreaking 7-6 Appalachian League decision to the Princeton Rays on Wednesday night at Hunnicutt Field.

Kingsport tied the game at six in the top of the ninth only to see Yunior Martinez hit a walk-off solo home run to right field to win the game for the P-Rays. It was his second solo homer of the evening.

The Mets trailed right out of the gate, digging themselves a four-run hole in the first two innings.

Andres Regnault had a two-run home run in the top of the sixth to cut the lead to one, but Princeton responded quickly with a run in the home half thanks to a Diego Infante solo dinger.

Luis Leon hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the opening frame for Princeton, which had four homers in the game.

Andres German ended up with the loss for Kingsport, even though the lone hit he gave up in the last 2 1/3 innings of work was to Martinez. Princeton’s Brayden Theriot got both the win and a blown save after giving up three hits and one run.
