All five runs were unearned after an error earlier in the eighth allowed MaKenna Dance to reach base on a sacrifice.
In the season opener for both teams, the Lady Pioneers forced bonus action with Riley Hope’s one-out, seventh-inning home run. That was the only damage done against Ackerman, who pitched a five-hitter highlighted by 11 strikeouts against no walks.
Ackerman finished 3-for-5 with a pair of RBIs, and Jaycie Jenkins rapped out two doubles, scored twice and walked three times. Camryn Sarvis went 2-for-5.
Standout pitcher Kara Weems didn’t have the best of first outings. Weems gave up seven walks, although one was an intentional pass to Jenkins to load the bases in the eighth. Weems struck out nine batters and allowed only one earned run.
Sullivan East 9, Sullivan South 3
BLUFF CITY — Kylee Wolfe homered, totaled four RBIs and scored twice in a 2-for-3 showing for the Lady Patriots.
Katelyn Loudy went the distance from the circle for Sullivan East, fanning five.
Mackie Compton finished 2-for-4 for the Lady Rebels. Compton’s day included a double, an RBI and a run scored.
Elizabethton 9, Sullivan Central 6
ELIZABETHTON — Maggie Johnson went 3-for-4 with a double, had three RBIs and scored twice for the Lady Cyclones.
Madisun Pritchurd threw 4 1/3 shutout innings for the win.
The Lady Cougars scored all their runs in the top of the seventh inning.
Alexa Chandler, Sydney Snapp, Madison Horne and Jasmine Sheffield had two hits apiece. Chandler homered and had two RBIs, and Sheffield doubled.
David Crockett 9, Sullivan North 0
JONESBOROUGH — Four David Crockett pitchers combined on a three-hitter and 16 strikeouts against North.
Cade Larkins, Grady Cash and Landon Quillen pitched two innings apiece, setting up Sean Hayes to throw the seventh. Six strikeouts came from Cash, five from Larkins and four courtesy of Quillen.

KINGSPORT — Braydon Wilhoit hurled a one-hitter for the Golden Raiders, striking out nine in the process.
Chandler Raleigh and Dale Potter each had a pair of hits. Cole Bear was responsible for both RBIs.

ELIZABETHTON — Jacob Absher went 2-for-3 and had three RBIs in the Warriors’ win.
Winner Travis Whitson struck out six, gave up three runs and allowed two hits in 5 1/3 innings. Michael Harrah completed the three-hitter.
Elizabethton 7, Sullivan East 2
BLUFF CITY — Cooper Tipton belted a three-run homer in a four-run first inning for the Cyclones.
Elizabethton got a five-inning pitching start and two RBIs from Matthew Dailey.
The Patriots’ Eli Milhorn doubled in a 3-for-4 outing and Perry Casaday was good for two RBIs. Dylan White fanned seven in a losing effort.
