KINGSPORT — A few new faces and a familiar one will be guiding the Kingsport Mets through the 2018 Appalachian League season.

Joining new manager Sean Ratliff’s staff with the Appy League advanced-rookie affiliate of the New York Mets will be Josue Matos, Delwyn Young, Vanessa Weisbach and John Perry, the K-Mets announced Friday.

Ratliff was named the team’s manager in February. He served as Kingsport’s hitting coach in 2015. Ratliff has spent three seasons coaching with the Mets organization, though this will be his first as a manager.

Ratliff replaces Luis Rivera, who was promoted to bench coach for the Double-A Binghamton Rumble Ponies this season.

Matos and Young’s positions also were announced in February. Matos will be returning for this second season as the K-Mets’ pitching coach and third overall with the Mets, and Young, a major league infielder from 2006-2010 with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Pittsburgh Pirates, will be embarking on his first season as a professional baseball coach. He will be the K-Mets’ hitting coach.

The upcoming Appy League season will be the first for Weisbach as the K-Mets’ athletic trainer and the first for strength and conditioning coach Perry with the Mets organization. Weisback worked the previous two seasons as a trainer with the Mets in Port St. Lucie, Fla. Perry was a strength and conditioning coach at Georgia Tech in 2017.
