Justin Reed homered and doubled in his 2-for-3 day, driving in four runs and and scoring three times, and tossed five two-hit innings, striking out nine, in the Titans’ 7-2 Cumberland District victory at Thomas Walker.
Reed’s effort, along with Cole Burke’s 2-for-3 game and Tanner Dingus’ RBI, helped Twin Springs (11-6, 6-4) offset five errors in the field. Both runs against Reed were unearned, and Dingus also closed out the win with two scoreless, hitless innings in which he struck out three.
Caleb Yeary and Wesley Gilliam both singled to account for the Pioneers’ hits. Yeary and Lucas Sturgill scored for Thomas Walker (8-7, 2-8), which committed just one error.
Yeary took the loss after giving up five runs — just one earned — on six hits. He struck out eight and walked three.

PINEVILLE, Ky. — The Lady Pioneers split a pair of shortened interstate games with the Lady Bobcats.
The Kentucky school took the opener in 4½ innings. Bell County had eight hits to two for Thomas Walker, which was hurt by eight errors.
The Lady Pioneers had to go just three innings to win the nightcap for their first victory of the season.

GATE CITY — Five Lady Blue Devils scored and three provided assists in the shortened nondistrict blowout.
Jamie Watts led the parade with four goals and an assist, followed by Callie McMurray with a goal and three assists, Abby Williams with a goal and an assist, and Amanda Vermillion and Grace Mullins with a goal apiece.
Madison Grizzle and Katelynn Parton split time in goal for Gate City, with Parton making three saves.
Jada Mullins tallied 16 saves for Honaker.

GATE CITY — Levi Rhoton recorded a goal on a header off an assist by Andrew Pendleton, and David Edwards also found the back of the net in the Blue Devils’ nondistrict win.
