Some you probably know. Others maybe not. But the variety of performances coming to Kingsport is bound to interest most everyone.
The KTG hosted its Season Reveal Gala on Saturday at the Kingsport Renaissance Center. More than 100 people showed up to support the theatre guild and to be one of the first in town to know what’s coming to the stage next season.
To make things interesting, the KTG gave each of the performances a “top secret” code name and allowed people to make their best guesses as to their true names. Here’s the list of the performances coming to Kingsport along with their “top secret” code name.
“The Odd Couple” (Quirky Combo)
“Princess Whatsername” (That Princess Show)
“Murderous Crossing” (Deadly Path)
“Taming of the Shrew” (The Pleasant Rat)
“A Tuna Christmas” (Marlin Hannukah)
“Nuncrackers” (Nunya Business)
“Two on the Aisle, Three in a Van” (One by the River)
“The Beatles Slept Here” (The Sleepy Band)
“My Fair Lady” (The Good Woman)
“Actor’s Nightmare” (What We Do)
“Zoo Story” (The Animals)
“Secret Garden” (Shhhh! Flowers)
“9 to 5” (Numbers)
Following the gala, the theater guild held a reception for those in attendance and made the following special recognitions.
Volunteer of the Year: DeAnna Bishop
The Spotlight Award: Julana McClellan
Party Planner Extraordinaire: Christy Peters
The KTG also gave out awards for the Male and Female Vocalists of the Year, the Male and Female Actor of the Year and the Male and Female Child Actor of the Year.
The guild is staging 12 shows this year, four of which are musicals. One show is comprised of two acts, which is why there are 13 names on the list.
