BIG STONE GAP — A member of the “Big Stone Gap” movie cast is returning to perform a special guest role in the “Trail of the Lonesome Pine” outdoor drama this Saturday, as well as help conduct an auditions workshop for aspiring young actors.

Actress Erika Coleman, who portrayed the Pearl Grimes character in Adriana Trigiani's 2015 movie “Big Stone Gap,” based on Trigiani's novel of the same title, will join the cast of the Trail drama for Saturday's performance in the role of Sadrina “Sadie” Thompson, the Gap's saloon entrepreneur.

Coleman made her first feature film appearance in the 2005 film “Constellation” as the daughter of Billy D. Williams, appeared in a recurring role of Sonya on the Sundance Channel's premiere series “The Red Road,” and most recently appeared on Lifetime Network's “Devious Maids.”

In addition to taking on a special guest role in the Saturday evening performance of the Trail drama, Coleman will team up with actor Mike Whaley earlier in the day to conduct a master performing class at the Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park for aspiring young actors.

A South Carolina native, Whaley is best known for his role as Malick on the second season of the CBS show “Under the Dome.” He has performed in many films and other television roles and continues to be featured in many commercials nationwide.

Sponsored by Lonesome Pine Arts & Crafts, the workshop will highlight the auditions process for theater, television and film, as well as character development, basic movement, and simple breathing exercises and relaxation techniques useful for the audition process.

Registration for the auditions workshop is $10 per person, and participants will receive a ticket to Saturday night's performance of the Trail drama. Registration forms are available by calling the museum at (276) 523-1322 and must be received by noon Friday.

This year's Trail drama season, offering performances each Thursday, Friday and Saturday every summer, concludes on Sept. 3 starting at 8 p.m. each performance. Amphitheater gates open at 7 p.m., and each performance includes a pre-show starting at 7:15 p.m.

Tickets are $18 for adults, $15 for seniors and active military, $10 for children ages 6-12 and free for children 5 and younger. Groups of 10 or more can receive discount tickets by calling the box office at 1-800-362-0149, or visit www.TrailOfTheLonesomePine.com and select the box office link.
