Goodwin and Dudney wedding

Laura Frances Dudney and Adam Stewart Goodwin, both formerly of Kingsport, were married June 13, 2015, at The Venue, Asheville, N.C. The Rev. Brian Taylor officiated at the 5:30 p.m. ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Bill and Janyce Dudney of Kingsport, and the granddaughter of Jack and Jeannette Ralston of Kingsport, Susan Dudney of Kingsport and the late Earl Dudney. The bridegroom is the son of Connie Sparks of Kingsport, and Mr. and Mrs. Dwaine Goodwin of Kingsport. He is the grandson of Lillian Lusk of Mullens, W.Va., the late Troy Lusk, and the late Luther and Annie Magdelene Goodwin.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted to the altar by her father, the bride wore an ivory designer ball gown featuring a fitted sweetheart bodice covered in elegant floral venise lace, a crystal beaded waist sash and a soft organza and tulle skirt that flowed into a chapel-length train. Her fingertip-length, two-tiered ivory illusion veil was trimmed in delicate venise lace and originally worn by her mother.

Brooke Adams, sister of the bride, of Atlanta, Ga., was matron of honor, and Rachel Dudney, sister of the bride, of Lexington, Ky., was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Sally Kilgore, cousin of the bride, of Wilmington, N.C.; Mary Beth White of Nashville; and Erin Smith and Francie Winchester, both of New York, N.Y. Flower maids were Anne Marie and Eleanor Adams, nieces of the bride, of Atlanta, and Mattie Stoddard, niece of the bridegroom, of Kingsport. Charlotte Adams, niece of the bride, of Atlanta, was flower girl.

Serving the bridegroom as best men were Andy Armbrister of Johnson City; Charles Cushman of New Bern, N.C.; Lance Francisco of Richmond, Va.; and Thomas Dowda, Jason Hammonds and Sean Riley, all of Houston, Texas. Ushers were John Dudney, brother of the bride, of Tampa, Fla.; Andy Adams, brother-in-law of the bride, of Atlanta; Russell Joseph of Aspen, Colo.; and Jonathan Pratt of Murfreesboro, Tenn.

Heather Dudney, sister-in-law of the bride, of Tampa, and Deana Stoddard, sister of the bridegroom, of Kingsport, read scripture during the ceremony. Special music was provided by Leslie Jordan, cousin of the bride, of Nashville.

The bride is a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School, Appalachian State University and the University of Tennessee School of Law. She is a project manager for Teach for America.

The bridegroom is a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School and the University of Tennessee. He is employed as the tournament director and sales manager at the Clubs of Kingwood, Kingwood, Texas.

The couple resides in Houston.
