UPDATE: National Weather Service: Kingsport tornado packed winds of 110 mph

The National Weather Service has confirmed that tornadoes hit Sullivan and Washington counties Sunday evening, while storm damage in Hawkins County is believed to have been caused by straight-line winds.

Hawkins County will use the 2014-15 construction impact payment from the Tennessee Valley Authority to pay for an emergency radio system upgrade which will hopefully eliminate most of the dangerous radio dead spots in the county.
