Work underway on Old Sheriff's Home

BLOUNTVILLE - Work is finally underway on a long-planned rehabilitation of the old county jail and sheriff's home just off Highway 394 and behind the historic Sullivan County Courthouse. The structure was reportedly built of hand-fired bricks in 1870.

Police responded to a disturbance at a residence in Lynn Garden, finding a woman "to be very emotional." She then claimed that while she was sleeping, her juvenile daughter and a friend - who was staying the night - had "messed up the apartment."
