Two Hawkins County homes destroyed in fires

ROGERSVILLE — Separate residential fires in Hawkins County this week destroyed two homes, including a house on Russell Road south of Rogersville that apparently caught fire Wednesday evening due to a faulty refrigerator.

Ramey gets life sentence for Christmas murder of Scott County man

GATE CITY — Charlie Joe Ramey was given life in prison plus an additional 40-year sentence Wednesday by 30th Circuit Judge John Kilgore. A jury found Ramey guilty in March of felony murder, robbery and distribution of Schedule III drugs.

BULLS GAP — A theft charge is pending against a Hawkins County woman who allegedly stole $5,000 from her boyfriend and was then hospitalized for injuries suffered attempting to remove the cash from her “hiding place.”
