Kingsport bridge dedicated to Vietnam veteran

The Clinchfield Street bridge over Reedy Creek will be dedicated on Saturday to the highest ranking serviceman from the Kingsport area to be killed in action during the Vietnam War.

Police are searching for an individual who stole a Knoxville man's identity to obtain a credit card, then made purchases throughout Northeast Tennessee and online — having the latter sent to a vacant home in Kingsport.

Kojo Abakah was 12 years old and living in the West African country of Ghana when he received a shoebox from Operation Christmas Child. Today, Kojo is a college student at Tusculum College in Greeneville and on the other end of the operation.

When Hawkins County deputies arrived at 114 Looney Street, they allegedly observed items associated with meth manufacturing. Officers then requested the Sheriff's Office Narcotics Unit respond to the scene.
