CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. (AP) — A Marine was in custody Wednesday after military officials say he shot and fatally wounded a colleague with his M4 rifle while standing guard at the main gate of a North Carolina base.

The men were arrested July 20 following a routine traffic stop by the Scott County Sheriff's Office. A search of the SUV they were traveling in reportedly turned up 30 pounds of synthetic marijuana and more than 200 grams of bath salts.
