Update: Fire shuts down part of U.S. Route 23 after two trucks overturn

Two trucks overturned and one caught fire on U.S. Route 23 on Thursday, closing the southbound lanes of the highway for several hours. The mishap occurred at the on ramp of the J.I. Burton High School exit of Norton at about 10:30 a.m.

In Sullivan County, fireworks can be used between the hours of 2 and 10 p.m., on July 4. Fireworks must be at least 100 feet away from residences unless permission is given by the homeowner. Violators could be fined up to $500.
