Sullivan County Administrator of Elections Jason Booher said election officials hope the five-way race for Kingsport mayor will translate into increased voter turnout. Mayor Dennis Phillips is not seeking re-election.

Tennessee High jumped on the Tribe early in Monday's Big 7 Conference clash at J. Fred Johnson Stadium, but the Vikings couldn't make it stick. D-B hammered out 10 hits, including a pinch-hit three-run homer by Daniel Starnes, en route to an 11-3 victory.

Officer Fields said he observed the rider, Jerry Lyons Fields, 63, 801 E. Main Street Apt. 4, Rogersville, to be singing loudly, and somewhat oblivious to his surroundings with a bottle of beer in a plastic shopping bag tied to the handle bars.

While speaking with Dollen, the responding officer noticed blood on her shirt. When asked what happened to her to get blood on her shirt, Dollen allegedly responded, "it's probably my husband's. I hit him in the head with a hammer."
