Construction of a new Interstate 26 welcome center in Kingsport has temporarily come to a halt while an environmental permit — once thought to be valid — is re-obtained by the construction company performing the work.

For the first time, the Northeast Tennessee Swimming and Diving Championships were held at the new Kingsport Aquatic Center. The competition pool at the facility is built for speed, and speed was the order of the day in Saturday’s NET finals.
