Two challengers and an incumbent are seeking the District 4 Sullivan County Board of Education seat in Thursday's general election. The district includes parts of the Piney Flats, Bluff City and Blountville areas.

On Thursday afternoon, Hawkins County Sheriff's Office Deputy Jesse Williams responded to an animal complaint at 210 Clemons Road in Whitesburg. A neighbor told Williams that Rex Derryberry had died and the animals were left with no one to care for them.
