Lawsuit filed by mother of teen killed in Hawkins wreck

Less than a week after a head-on collision in Rogersville took the life of a Hawkins County teen, the victim's mother has filed a federal lawsuit in Greeneville against the other driver and the trucking company he works for.

Voter turnout for the county's general election and party primaries last week in Sullivan County was not, perhaps, anything to brag about. But it was up a bit, percentage-wise, from the last similar election in August 2010.

WISE — The Wise County School Board on Tuesday approved a ban on use of all tobacco products at school division facilities, and the prohibition extends to football stadiums and other outdoor athletic facilities.

Hawkins committees vote to move property tax increase on to full commisison

The Education Committee voted 4-1 with one abstention to forward the school budget on to the Budget Committee, which then voted 4-3 to forward the school budget to the full commission.
