Train derailment, fire prompts evacuation in Tennessee

A car on a CSX train carrying a flammable and toxic substance derailed and caught fire in eastern Tennessee, prompting the evacuation of thousands within a 2-mile radius.

The Tennessee Arts Commission has awarded $3,925,710 to help fund arts and cultural activities for arts organizations, schools, local governments, nonprofits and artists - including nearly $110,000 to recipients in Sullivan County.

North Carolina experienced its seventh shark attack in a month Wednesday, just as the coast prepared for one of its busiest weekends of the year. At around noon Wednesday a 68-year-old man in waist-deep water on Ocracoke Island.

Evelyn Jean Vickers received a 110-month prison sentence in U.S. District Court in Greeneville on Tuesday. Vickers and 10 others were indicted in June 2014 in connection with an extensive a-PVP distribution ring centered in and around Sullivan County.
