Obama authorizes renewed airstrikes in Iraq

In a televised statement from the White House, Obama said American military planes already had carried out airdrops of humanitarian aid to tens of thousands of Iraqi religious minorities surrounded by militants and desperately in need of food and water.

Jennifer Russell was indicted in U.S. District Court in Greeneville in January 2013 on a 12-count indictment. The charges include providing a firearm to a convicted felon and making false statements to a firearms distributor.

Melvillle Bailey said he believes experience and a positive message that carried over from the primary helped earn him a second term as Hawkins County mayor. He defeated Surgoinsville Mayor Johnny Greer in Thursday's general election 5,184 to 2,621.
